Your Child's Hearing Aids

Why Two are Better than One

Today, medical and hearing healthcare practitioners widely agree that two hearing aids are better than one. Even when hearing loss is more severe in one ear, there are a number of benefits to using two hearing aids (referred to as binaural amplification). These include:

Increased ability to distinguish spoken words in normal and noisy listening conditions.

A more normal sense of balance because sound is amplified in both ears.

Improved ability to determine from which direction a sound is coming (this is called localization).

The ability to set volume controls lower than with a single hearing aid, allowing for more comfortable sound levels.
