Sabrina B.
Holly B. knows first hand the importance of detecting a hearing loss early. Both
of her daughters, Bella
aged 6 and Sabrina 1 year old, were diagnosed with hearing losses through infant hearing screening programs. Because of her earlier experiences with Bella, Holly
was especially aware of having Sabrina’s hearing tested early. Infant screening tests initially revealed that Sabrina had a moderate sensorineural hearing loss for a few mid frequencies.
She was fit with binaural Conversa.NT™ Behind-the-Ear (BTE) hearing aids when she was just five weeks old to give her the best possible chance at keeping her speech
and language development on target. Her pediatric audiologist, Rondie Condie, chose Conversa.NT digital hearing instruments because of their flexibility: |

"Conversa.NT and Unifit™ fitting software are very easy-to-use, and the fine tuning and fitting flexibility is especially attractive with my pediatric patients. Conversa.NT's features and Unifit allow shaping of both gain and MPO curves to easily match DSL fitting targets. This is critical to ensure optimal hearing aid fittings, especially for young children," explains Condie.

"As the nature of Sabrina’s hearing loss has varied, we have been able to address her listening needs by changing between earmolds and slim tubes and by simply fine tuning her hearing aids in Unifit," says Condie. "Conversa.NT Moda is ideal for many pediatric patients, where the data used to set and fine tune hearing aids changes due to ear canal growth or additional test information. I would recommend Conversa.NT Moda hearing instruments to fit a wide range of hearing losses, easily and successfully." |
| Since Sabrina has been wearing her Conversa.NT BTE hearing aids, she can locate the source of sounds, especially voices, more easily. She turns her head towards sounds, mimics sounds and words she hears, and "talks" to her parents and siblings. Holly notes that her language development is "completely on track". When they play peek-a-boo and hide and seek games, Sabrina’s eyes will light up while searching around for their location, clearly indicating that she can hear them. |

Sabrina’s Conversa.NT BTE hearing instruments are easy-to-use and hardly require any adjustments. According to Holly, "A good hearing aid is so important, but having them adjusted properly for your child and be comfortable so they don’t mind wearing them is equally important. The Conversa.NT hearing aids have been worn consistently by both my daughters and we are seeing the positive results." |
